Barrera got the better of the exchanges when he turned more aggressive, and I find that to be the general consensus among Boxing fans.

What I falter to see is this Boxing exhibition Morales apparently put on through 6.

No probs with the rd 9 thing, I thought Morales took the whole middle of that rd tho, Marco landed the eye catching punches at the start & end, close rd.

Barrera landed IMO his best punch of the fight in the last 10 seconds of rd 7 - a left hook to the jaw, how Morales never went down only God knows - but I thought Morales plain outworked him over the whole rd, I definitely think this was a Morales rd.

He got the better of the exchanges on the rare occassion he trapped Morales but for the most part the fight was fought where Morales wanted it, from distance, he out-maneuvered Barrera & controlled him very well with the jab, you could see Morales relaxed & Barrera frustrated at not being able to get to Erik the way he would have liked, thats why he punched him to the floor after the ref said break in rd 8... Erik got up with a smile because he knew MAB was losing his cool & Erik boxed him for the remainder of the rd quite calmly.

Significantly too... Barrera finally made a break thru by having his best rd in rd 9, Morales answered back by having his best rd in rd 10, he just wouldnt concede anything to Barrera that night, this was the fight following that press conference brawl & I think Morales was out to prove a point big time, as was Marco but someone had to win & Erik was that man.

Same could be said for the first fight. Barrera was a 4-1 underdog, and he felt cheated that such a great fighter like himself could be written off that easy. He was out to prove a point big time, as was Erik but someone had to win and Barrera was that man.

    See how this never ends?

Its funny how Barrera was a big underdog in fights 1 & 3 & yet he did best in those fights compared to fight 2, Im just wondering if Morales took him lightly in those fights as Marco was coming off losses not too long before vs Jones & Pacquiao, people questioned how much he had left going into both fights, I think he suprised Erik in those fights TBH.
When Barrera was primed & on a great run tho in fight 2 Morales never took him lightly & won, Ive always wondered about that.

Ps. Im not saying Morales never trained or anything like that, just that he got more than he mentally expected in fights 1 & 3.

Absolutely. People forget just how overlooked Marco was in the first fight. Larry Merchant says during round 9, and I remember this because I watch the fight religiously, whilst Barrera is pounding Morales on the ropes, "Whatever happens from here on out, this is a victory for Barrera, in a sense, for how well he has fought". It's almost as if the commentary team expected it to be a coming out party for Morales. It ended up being one for both of them. They both got bigger because of that fight.

The only one im sure of is Arguello over Hagler.
Pep and Ali are too tight for me.Ali was tougher but Pep was more skillful. That evens it out for me..
Barrera was maybe a bit more versatile than Marquez is.

Yep, true, that fight will never be forgotten & neither will they because of it.

I will be disappointed if it doesnt get voted FOTD.

Ali- Pep:? Maybe Ali but could go either way
    Hagler- Arguello Hagler
Marquez-Barrera Barrera but i believe Marquez is on the same level
    Leonard- Duiran Duran
Whittaker-CHavez Well in HTH Whittaker deserved their fight, but i think Chavez is at least his equal in a atg list and would have done better(possibly won) had the fight been at lightweight.
Mayweather-Jones well if Mayweather were to stop fighting today id go with Jones, but Floyd had a chance to pass him up.
Langford-Tank in a boxing match Langford in a street fight:?:?:huh

    I'll have a go.

Ali & Pep - Ali for greatness
Hagler & Arguello- Hagler as a greater fighter at any particular weight
Marquez & Barrera- I have to say Barrera, even though the case could be made for Marquez in terms of effectivenss, Barrera is clearly, clearly more complete stylistically
Leonard & Duran- this is one of the hardest to this day, i've always fell on Duran's side though, something about the sheer legacy
Whitaker & Chavez- Whitaker gives me that awe inspiring feeling in a way that no other fighter does, it's unique for me, so i'm saying him
Mayweather & Jones jr- I'm taking Floyd
Langford & Tank Abbot- the tank on the strength of having one night where he turned the fans around in a losing effort in one special night. Almost on parallel with Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 13.

What a terrible post this is, i've used completely different and **** criteria for each pick!

    It's staying though.
