It's not something that happens often, but what are some fighters that actually seemed to improve when moving UP in weight?

From all indications, Miguel Cotto looks better at 147 than he did at 140

I can agree with that. He looked like a starved child at the 140 weigh- ins.

    :good

Also, Holyfield (tho he was ONE HELL of a CW). Roy Jones Jr (a great MW and SMW...but really best at LHW). James Toney (MW to SMW and so on and so on and so on and so on....:hey ).

Just a few off the top of my head.

Most fighters usually get better when they move up a division because normally they start off their careers at a lower weight to have a power and speed and size advantage. What truley matters is when fighters can move up 3+ divisions with success. And its usually the boxers who started off extremely low for their size and just natural skillful boxers who can do this. Natural attributes can only take you so far when your moving up in weight such as KO power or lighting speed...The higher you go up the more and more it relies on Technical skill.

Tommy Hearns. Going from 147 to 154.

If it wouldn't have been for Hagler, Hearns would have DURANED through everyone else.

Older fighters who have the restraint of making weight removed tend to do better late in their career, Toney and Hopkins come to mind.
