Fighters that Liked/Disliked Larry Merchant

I heard that as well, I forget the whole circumstances regarding that, I think that was happening during the time Tyson was on his way out of HBO to SHO. I got a old Tyson video from like 88-89 that has Merchant holding the heavy bag for Tyson, it's was one of the funniest things I ever seen, Merchant's hair was all over the place.

 

Merchant keeps it real and tells it like it is, if fighters don't like him, or the questions he asks **** them..

 

I think Morales and Hatton seem to like Larry(simply by judging the way they reacted in interviews with him) but then again Larry seemed to like both of those fighters quite a lot so it's not surprising .

 

Floyd Hate him. But Floyd hate Brian Kenny too.

 

I agree and James Toney liked Larry Merchant because Merchant loved James Toney as a fighter.

 

I thought Merchant made a off comment about Toney's weight, which made Toney upset over? I remember them making up and being cool with each other a few years later when he said something about "Your better than the guy on Showtime(meaning Jim Gray).:yep

 

I know they are cool now but i don't think RJJ liked Merchant too much because Merchant was always critical of RJJ during his prime. Even after RJJ/Griffin 2 interview, RJJ said all the haters doubted him and he specfically pointed to Merhcant in front of everyone. And he even once corrected Merchant while commenting during a fight and said something like, "You had to box to know this."
