Give us some names and explain why they are relevant.

    I'd go for:

    1. Joe Calzaghe. In how many wet dreams have not the American heroes walked through his weak slaps and manly KO'd him without the slightest effort? Anyone could do it, apart from those who tried.

    2. Wladimir Klitschko. You know how it goes ... no heart, no chin. Every top ten from any era would expose him. If only time machine existed. Lost especially many fantasy match ups thanks to Hayes wild imagination :-(

    3. Floyd Mayweather. Hated, hated, hated. Won, won, won :yep

I see your point, we tend to look at the past through rose tinted glasses. Calzaghe would be a real problem for any middle, supermiddle and lightheavy in history - that combination of workrate, awkwardness, chin, and punch variety of his is a real challenge to deal with.

Klitschko has the power, size, jab and discipline to shut a lot of ATG heavies down, albeit the smaller ones - I feel out of the list he is the easiest to beat. Guys like Foreman, Liston, Lewis, Bowe, Tyson, Ali, Holmes and Louis would likely beat him. Smaller guys like Frazier, Marciano, Patterson and so on would struggle with the size, though they would have a chance.

Mayweather holds his own with anyone, only Legends of the welterweight division really beat him. So Hearns, Leonard, Duran, Armstrong, and Pryor. They all would know they'd been in a fight too and only Hearn's or possible Leonard stops him after a ridiculous fight.

As for other names, Lewis does well against most heavies, as does Tyson and Vitali. Tszyu would compete well at any era of the welterweights as would Pacquiao. A lot of the heavyweights of recent years would do well due to their size and sheer power and reach.
