Watching the Shannon Courtney post fight interview, where sporting a bruised up face, in a fight she was clearly outhustled in, she was very classless and didn't give any credit at all to her 8 year older opponent. I'm not a fan of AJ particularly, bit he's been pretty classy in defeat, on a MUCH bigger stage, with FAR more at stake. Fighters that were classy in defeat in my memory (showing age a bit here) Bobby Czyz v Prince Charles Williams Tommy Hearns v Iran Barkley The aforementioned Anthony Joshua Big Frank never made excuses. On the other hand, fighters that were poor in a loss. Courtney. Luke Campbell (his first loss). *Edit it was Frankie Gavin not Cool Hand Yarde. Any more for any more?
Roy Jones couldn’t accept Montell Griffin was too good for him that night. Obviously Wilder. Hatton was a very poor loser. Huge ego. Nigel Benn went right over to Watson, Eubank and Malinga in massive upset shocks when he had Nunn (Vegas 89), Leonard (Vegas 91) and Jones (Vegas 96) up next for many millions of dollars, and hugged and congratulated them saying he couldn’t knock them and they were splendid. Best loser ever under those circumstances.
Eubank Sr was a poor loser v Collins. Pushed his hand away and told him to F’off (and that was the SECOND fight).
I'm not sure, I watched the replay, and it was cut off shortly after the decision was announced, he DID pull a surprised face, but I thought he didn't offer a plethora of excuses, (particularly post Ruiz), unlike a certain former HW titlist....
I just remembered one, was controversial as at the time in the mid 80's, Bobby Frankham? Hit the referee as I remember it
Yeah I believe he was sanctioned. Incredible to me that he went on to fight for 20 more years after that, until he suffered a brain bleed. I wonder if occurs to him now that, were it not for Jay Nady, his career could have ended that night
Brilliant fighter on his day, just lost fights he should (and could) have won. Great pick too, forgot about the Judah debacle!
Yeah, I feel for him. The Tszyu loss was an unlucky one, just one hit chinned him. But his temper tantrum sort of took away all the sympathy (although his cries of 'HOW?' had me cracking up)
I remember him on that "The SuperMiddleweights," round a table thing. Came across as a right bellend.
