Sergio Mora has done OK, I thought he would get quietly KO'd without doing anythign of note. Ricky Hatton.
Ricky Hatton. During the spoonfed fank warren years I was convinced he was being protected for a reason, which he was, I just guessed the wrong one.
huh?? how are you sure of that?? youve just stated how much hes surprised you and then you go on to say that?
jermain taylor-he isn't the best the division has to offer but i thought he'd quietly dissapear after the first pavlik fight but his three fights after, despite being 1-2, have shown he's got some quality chris byrd-i really didn't think he'd be able to hang with the heavies as long as he did james toney-after that 5 year stretch wear he fought hobos for sandwiches at light heavy/cruiser he did pretty well against Jirvo and then heavy winky wright-in my worst pick of all time i thought mosley would be too strong for him...now he's a probably hall of famer
While I thought he hung tough against Wlad, I also thought Peter showed about how far he could go with that fight, too. He surprised me in Toney II. Then he surprised me again by falling off a cliff.
Pacquiao has surprised me numerous times. I didn't expect him to beat Barrera in 2003, picked Morales to duplicate the feat in the rematch, thought he was too small to beat DLH. In some of his fights in which I expected him to win, I didn't expect such dominating performances, like against Diaz, Hatton, and Morales 3.
hmm says... lately good surprises... Juanma JMM Pacquiao P.Williams Gary Penasola Donaire Soto Vic Diaz Monk Foreman Bradley Froch bad surprises... Pavlik-Mora Hopkins the entire HW division Khan-Kot Haye-Wlad C.John-R.Juarez Valuev-Chag PBF-JMM Mosley Cotto-Clottey Calderon-Maydol GBP Dawson-Tarver dildo in a box
The Pac man. I didn't think he would do this good jumping from one division to another and another and another, etc. By the way, does anybody know if he's the only fighter that became P4P w/ out having any amateur fights?
JMM - Very Underrated. Pure heart. Pacquiao - I thought his ceiling was JMM, but his wins vs Hoya and Hatton was very impressive. (i guess JMM is that good too) Mosley - I thought Margarito was going to kill him
Keeping with the original post, guys who we caught earlier in their career that didn't seem like they'd achieve much, but went on to turn into pretty good fighters. Celestino Caballero - thought he was too raw Kelley Pavlik - thought he was a ko waiting to happen David Lopez - thought he was a crap journeyman Paul Malignaggi - thought he was too much a ***** Humberto Soto - didn't think he was much above gatekeeper Manny Pac - thought Barrera fight was a fluke
