I don't agree with listing Willie Pep. Even though he was a defensive whiz, he had over 240 fights and 2000 rounds of boxing professionally. And he fought to a very advanced age.

He ended up dying in a nursing home from Alzheimer's, but has also been reported to have suffered brain damage from fighting as well.

Oh yeah, I didn't think about that. I just mentioned Willie Pep cause of his defensive/evasive skills.

Without a doubt, Floyd Mayweather Jr. He took a limited amount of punishment in the first Castillo fight, took a few shots v Judah, Hatton, Jesus Chavez, took one bad one from DeMarcus Corley, and took a lot of shots from De La Hoya - but none of them seemed to hurt PBF at all, not many were flush. A lot of the punches he took were taken voluntarily as he lured people (like N'Dou for instance) onto the ropes so he could roll and counter. For a 39-fight, 5-weight career, that really is no 'punishment' at all.

On the flip side, (don't go mad Floyd lovers, just my opinion :D) if he had fought better fighters and thus created a better resume, he would have taken more punishment, so I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing.

Before they started to slide, Pernell Whitaker (who slid a bit by the Rivera fights in 1996) and Roy Jones Jr (who plummeted after the Ruiz fight in 2003), did not take a lot of punishment considering the length of their careers at the very top.

I would say some of these guys still took their share of punishment.

Foreman took a lot of good, clean, hard shots from guys like Ali, Lyle, Holyfield, Morrison, Stewart, Moorer, etc...Obviously he was easier to hit as he got older and had some tough fights.

Holmes was in some tough fights too where he took a fairly high amount of punishment...Norton, Witherspoon, Weaver, Snipes, etc....He was crafty though, I enjoyed watching some of the moves he did off the ropes against Holyfield, and Mercer.

Hagler was a good defensive fighter but took some hard blows from Mugabi and Hearns among others, and had scar tissue above his eyes.
