If we were to make a comprehensive list of all the fighters down the years that went on for too long, we would be here all day. Ali vs Holmes is perhaps the most extreme case of this that I could think of. Ali was a shell of his former self, in appearance and performance, as Holmes beat on him until Ali's corner finally threw in the towel. Perhaps everybody knew before the fight what would happen, but it didn't make it any more acceptable when it finally happened. Holmes forever lived in the shadow of Ali, despite being a truly great Heavyweight in his own right. Was tonight the same thing? I don't think I could ever imagine in my wildest dreams that Oscar would be dominated by anybody, let alone a former Flyweight in Manny Pacquiao. He was being pushed against the ropes, and appeared unable to time anything. It was an utter domination in every sense of the world, and circumstances of the fight just add insult to injury to a glittering career. You either felt sorry for Hoya, or you loved every minute of it, and I couldn't ever be the latter. In fact, I feel sorry for those who did love every minute of it. Even if I was a Manny fan, I would have been well aware of what was going on in there. The last Hurrah for Oscar. He is often remembered only for being a businessman on the General forum, but he was a great fighter. He fought everybody, and of course there are going to be losses when you don't duck anybody. It's to his credit that he got in the ring with the fighters he did. In any event, Great performance by Manny, who proved that he wasn't a one dimensional slugger, who could Box when he needed too. His left lead was a thing of a beautiful and never missed from round 1 to the stoppage. Congratulations to you and your fans. Do you feel this fight is in the same category as a Ali/Holmes or a Leonard/Camacho?
