It does with Norton certainly. Every time ken goes up against the big bangers he seemed to sense beforehand what was going to happen. Or perhaps his body would just freeze up in anxiety and be ko'd has a result. A bit of the chicken or the egg scenario.
But u could say that about literally dozens of fighters, that went in to a fight ill prepared or over confident and then lost.
Not sure if I have the right guy but I believe Johnny paycheck went in against Louis white as a ghost. Probably dreading facing a prime Joe. But least Johnny didn't have to hang around long!
True but he was young, inexperienced and over confident. Perhaps if schmeling hadn't done it he may have run in to someone else and lost. That fight learned Joe more than a lot of the ko's he'd scored early on.
I recall reading a story about Bob Olin defending his title against John Henry Lewis and the night before the fight Ray Arcel had to get Bob to the doctor because of the way he was spassing out. Today we would probably call it a panic attack. Back then everyone of the public knew fighter's names so -wishing anonymity - Arcel told the doctor the patient's name was Ray Arcel. The doc could find nothing wrong but told Olin, "Mr. Arcel, if I had a physique like yours I would probably become a fighter." Bob lost the fight but fought admirably through 15 rounds. Probably just lacked confidence in himself.
Liston vs Ali 2 Marciano vs. Walcott 2 Marquez vs. May SRL vs. Hagler (though I thought Hagler won, the only reason it was close was because of the before the fight rule changes and mental game Ray played)
