Yes, Mob guys love the fights just like everyone and foul play is not exclusive to the Italian mob some businessmen are far worse.

The organizations opened in other countries to avoid the law but still do their hanky panky (If you remember Don King paid off John Ort at Ring magazine to rate Larry Holmes opponent Tom Prator higher to qualify as an elimination opponent)

Sometimes especially in NY and the big cities it is good to know a lion to keep the wolves away but knowing someone if not committing a crime.

 

Did it cross your mind that the inconsistencies might have been due to age ? That he remembered things wrong because a long time had passed, making him unable to recount the correct details ? Or that he might have had believed a legend or folktale that might not have actually been true ? The possibility that he had forgotten and remembered things at inappropriate times ?

All these possibilites could have been true. But you just went ahead and tried to humiliate him, trying to prove your ''fact based truth'', despite not even attempting to see things from his perspective, if he actually was an old man. You had already made up your mind on him being a liar. How can someone claim to tell the truth when they don't even bother understanding an opposite perspective ? That's not being factually correct, that's just being a persecutor without a semblance of empathy. So what if he might have lied about something ? Was it worth calling him a lying pissant ? You don't just go ahead and violate someone's personhood like that.

 

Are Men At Work lyrical puns reportable offences? This is I did not know. In that case, there have been breaches, left, right and centre.

Keep ‘em up and you’re all on a Highway to Hell (band change up). At the very least, you’re all on the verge of a damned good banning.

Btw, is there a more serious discussion going on in this thread? I heard some angry murmurings from the room down the corridor but I’m too much taken up with this line of discussion.

 

Some say Jake LaMotta did some dirty deeds (dirty cheap), but others in the thread said he kept a stiff upper lift about his mob dealings.

that's the sad truth and whole point of dignity & decency, Mr. Bienstock was THERE - in Time, in Location - NYC, in Live Attendance at fights, in Contact with many Boxing people, In discussion and in Interest directly with the Sport and some of it's people.

was his Memory ever jarred, (of course, who's isn't), he was in his mid & late 80s, did he sometimes get the facts wrong or perhaps not in the right order, again very normal, did he relate insight in 1st hand 'memory' as well as information conveyed by others, some of which may not have been fully accurate, also some of them sources may have been 2cd or 3d hand info, but guess what some of it was also 1st hand accounts by others... you know what else Mr. BB did, more often than not, he contributed some great information and cited many sources & people as We Should do, he was a valuable member and he was an older man and thankfully still alive as of a few weeks ago anyway.

the point is 2 fold, we are supposed to discuss be grateful for the information and sources, look into it further against Contemporary Reports & Accounts confirming or not the events & facts, re-present such findings and continue discussing while thanking each other for the material.

the sad thing is there are a few posters who not only won't except some documentation, some even goes as far as denying it's existence, I enjoy these sites, I value people like BB and many, many others, many... but Dear God, there are a few people whose only criteria is attack & assault, only 'their' material, insight or accounts count, no one else's matter and like politicians they will just blank & bowl right over others sources they can't dare give recognition too.

they also forget there are many good Boxing Fans, Researchers & Collectors too, some great posters who have a wide range of knowledge and many, many more that are happy to learn from it, receive it and check it and correlate it with contemporary resources. What else are we supposed to do, or not do. Yet these trouble makers just live for execution, slant, bully bias and scratching each others nuts.

these Forums have become like todays Media, ONLY those who are ok'd by the Political Corrupt get to play, ALL Other Professionals, Scientists, Medical Specialist, Legal Experts, Judiciary, Education, Military or Policing voices need not contribute or be heard.

this is where we have gone in todays society and they are obvious, be it at home or at work, in your community, country or international and yes even on Boxing Sites.
