The thread is about guys from Floyd's era.

If we were talking about guys from any era, I would favour Leonard and Hearns against Mayweather, and I think Duran and Whitaker would also have a strong chance of beating him.

 

with margarito, he would have needed to and floyd knew it.

margo was too relentless with a very high workrate and a chin that would shatter floyd's brittle hands.

 

would of had pacs name all over this few years ago.

if floyd thought he could beaten pac, margo and cotto (before he was shot and prime again) he would have fought them.

Castillo in his prime faced all the elites at 135 and basically beat them all not sure if Floyd being stronger would benefit him vs Castillo at 135. He wasnt going to knock him out esp in Castillos prime. Would like to see Guerrero face more elites at 147 before fighting Floyd, but I doubt he'll get a crack at Marquez, Pacquiao, or even Bradley before he faces Floyd IF he faces him. Nope, not a Castillo, but in some ways similar. Yea I notice Floyd more stationary now pretty obvious he's a strong welterweight had time to fill in Robert new to 147, BUT he's young should cope with the weight gain no problem he has the body frame for it and has the worst style Floyd could fight against. Mayweather-Guerrero could have traces of Mayweather-Castillo, but could be wrong.

 

i don't see anyone in his weight class beating him 9-10 rounds. i can see some guys land a lucky shot and put him out for the count. Martinez and Vernon Forrest have that chance imo.

 

Vernon Forrest at his peak beats Mayweather.

Assuming Mayweather is still in solid form, he beats Trout. Lara wouldn't be much of a problem for him.

 

Oscar who outweigh Floyd by 15lbs in a tiny ring couldn't ko Floyd, you can forget about 147 plodding, not as skilled fighter in Margo to do it.

 

Can't see anyone around his era getting 9-10 rounds.

Martinez, Winky Wright, and Vernon Forrest all beat him for sure.

Prime versions of DLH (140-154) and Mosley (135-147) also beat him. Floyd's chances are better at the lower weights than the higher weights with those guys.

Finally, though he's not at the same level as the other fighters listed, Paul Williams would have had a good chance at getting a close decision at 147 based on his workrate and tremendous physical advantages.

Floyd is definitely beatable, and I see him losing 7-5 or 8-4 to a number of guys, but I have more trouble seeing 10-2 or 9-3.
