Fighters That Would Probably Stop Marciano?

I really don't believe this to be true. Well, maybe 1 or 2 - but there's always a few when it comes to heavies (and Sugar Ray Leonard, funnily enough. And Mayweather). There's a guy posting now who thinks that Lennox Lewis is some sort of joke, and then you have dino and Wladimir. Maybe Mendoza and Jack Johnson.

    But such people are rarities.

There definitely are a clutch of people on the forum that consider some of Marciano's chief support as literally a joke - but that's a little different, because it's poster-poster, not poster-fighter.

That's how I see it, anyway.

    One question for OP.

Out of the 49 fights Rocky had. Can you find one were Rocky was really hurt and in survival mode? Were Rocky was clinching, holding, or moving , fighting off ropes?

    Anything?

Rocky was a as close to an Ironman as it gets. What kind of power would it take to starch him out cold? Without that kind of power the best way to beat rocky was to be a cute boxer.

I have no idea if you could outwork him.

Perhaps as others have said. Jeffires, Johnson, or Vitali might be able. I would PAY anything to see those fights.

Funny you bring up Tyson's 20th fight. That was the same time at which Marciano was getting bounced around the ring by the great Ted Lowry.

I will echo the good Colonel here.

Its not that I don't think that he could be stopped, it is just that I have no idea what it would take to do it, as I do with pretty much any other heavyweight.

For example if he fought Lennox Lewis, we might see a reaction to the power that we had never seen in him before, or he might just shrug it off like Holyfield.

If he was taking repeated right hands from somebody like Schmeling or Holyfield, we don't have any clear idea where his breaking point would occur.

Therefore I am reluctant to say that fighter A, would probably stop him.

    Fair enough boys, fair enough.

For the record, I think a granite chin (or something close to it) is a lovely thing to have, but it starts to go away from you a bit once you go two or three leaps north.

That was 11 years after Mike turned pro. What was Marciano doing 11 years after he turned pro?

Their timelines don't match up very well.

Lets just accept that, and move on.

Yes I mean"stop",that is why I did not state KO.Neither Ali or Holmes would ko Marciano, but it is possible, imo that they might tko him on cuts.

If a prime Hagler were to fight Joe Louis would you feel able to entertain the idea that Louis might stop him?
I ask because Hagler would be conceding 40 pounds to Louis.

On the other hand Marciano would be conceding:
    60+lbs to Lewis
    27lbs to Liston
    27lbs to Ali
    63 lbs to Vitali
    60lbs to Wlad
    30lbs to Foreman

As I made the thread I believe I have carte blanche to word it how I wish ,just as you have the same leeway to ignore it.
