Dunno how a clever, survivor type who was an excellent fighter going backwards as Peralta was compares to a short, stocky, come forward swarmer like Marciano. That’s the kind of uninformed hyperbole I am talking about.

Johannson was one handed, Liston, Foreman, and Lewis, could hurt you with either hand, and none of them would ever be knocked down by Brian London!

How many under 200lbs could beat him.the only candidates I see are Dempsey and Langford, possibly Tunney might squeek a decision.

It's pretty fortunate for Marciano (or at least for his fans) that there's no footage of him going life and death against journeymen with losing records on the Rhode Island club fighter circuit. I'd love to see his fights with Keene Simmons (who apparently had Rocky in some trouble at one point), Red Applegate, Ted Lowry, Art Henri etc and the hotly disputed split against LaStarza.

Skehan states Marciano was in danger of being tko'd on cuts against Simmons.

Why is it fortunate for his fans? He was pre-prime when all these fights occured. We have film of Ali struggling with Doug Jones and getting felled by Banks and Cooper and his fans don't seem perturbed.

Thats why I cant take most rocky fans seriously. They make comparisons that make no sense but when you point out obvious similarities between rocky and other short swarmers or some of the men rocky struggled to beat, they shift the goal posts and ignore facts.

My stance is that no come forward aggressive fighter under 6 ft whose giving up more than 30 lbs in weight would ever beat lewis or foreman in a million years outside of a random punchers chance. I am not going to debate it either, it's absurd. Dont like it, dont care.

So why can't one of these aggressive come forward fighters make adjustments in tactics?

Considering Lewis was KTFO by two ok 6”2 punchers your point is a little silly. That and watch big George against Qawi and tell me Marciano wouldn’t do much better. Not saying he’d win either fight but would be entertaining and competitive

Really there are three categories and they vary .. men under 200 is a very small group. Maybe a Sam Langford. Maybe a Joe Louis. Maybe no one.

Men who stop him on a cut .. random.

Matching him up against much bigger men, just not a level playing field .. Marciano was point for pound one of the toughest to ever live.

We can debate endlessly who might have stopped Marciano.

What we can be certain of, is that nobody ever did!

Considering Lewis was kod by guys who were 6'2 and I CLEARLY wrote "under 6 ft and giving up 30 lbs" (neither of which describes the guys who beat Lewis) tells me you either cant read or you're yet another marciano fan who makes stupid comparisons to make their case.

And qawi wasnt a "come forward aggresive" fighter, he actially had high ring iq and good defense and head movement and he LOST to an old fat foreman but thats "evidence" marciano beats foreman??? Qawi is a valid comparison because its convenient but if I mention guys like tua and frazier all of a sudden theyre bad comparisons??? Lol.

Thank you for proving my point!

Qawi-Foreman is one of those fights that gets ridiculously overblown. As if an old Qawi lasting a few rounds with an old Foreman (and getting a battering before being stopped) somehow translates into Marciano doing well against Foreman. The guys who did well against Foreman fought nothing like Marciano. The guys who did well against Lewis fought nothing like Marciano. Marciano didn't beat anyone like Foreman or Lewis.

Couldn’t have put in better myself, Mr Cobra. Qawi was actually a short but VERY long armed ( Holyfield reckons Qawi had longer arms than his own ) defensive master who utilised a cross armed Archie Moore style defence and who could fight off the back foot when necessary. His style was nothing looked Rocky’s.

I dunno what fat old George toying with an elderly Dwight has to do with the Foreman of 1973 fighting the Marciano who beat Walcott and Charles.

    Cheers.
