Jack Johnson - Stayed strong and never gave in despite most of the country hating him. Regardless, he seemed like an awful person though. Ali - While I admire his ability and agreed with his stance on the Vietnam War, he was pretty unlikable most of the time, especially against Frazier. Taking Elijah Muhammad's side against Malcolm X was really wrong too. Tyson - Great fighter at his best, awful person. Monzon - Top 3 MW for me, but also one of the worst people to ever step in the ring. SRL - Extremely unlikable, but can't argue with his success. Perdoza - It's hard to like such a dirty fighter. Gomez - Best JFW ever, but almost always unlikable. Watanabe - at his best, one of the best JBWs ever, but he's been rumored to be deeply involved in organized crime.
Riddick Bowe he was a great fighter but seemes to be a 12 trapped in a 50 year old's body. With his childish immature tweets. Sucker punching Larry Donald Fan Man and MSG riot were all started by his crew.
I loathe...despise...Floyd Mayweather. Period. The single name "Floyd" refers to Patterson. Bernard Hopkins was and probably still is a racist *******. Riddick Bowe is the equivalent of a garbage man. No intelligence or class at all. His slimy little racist rat of a manager, Rock Newman was even worse. Tony Ayala should have been locked up and the key thrown away. I condemn all white racist fighters of the past who deprived a deserving black fighter a chance at a title opportunity. I have contempt for the front runner crybaby Julio Cesar Chavez and his appalling lack of sportsmanship. Carl Froch was a pompous dlck who displayed cowardice by avoiding GGG. He was waaay too self absorbed...tended to overstate his own worth and significance...and would have been trounced by Joe Calzaghe. Sugar Ray Leonard, as previously stated by a few other posters...was a dlck head. Shame on him for that "no mas" rehash. Nobody cares anymore. Canelo is a substandard mediocrity who should be glad that he sharing the same time, era and weight division with legit giants like Monzon, Hagler, SRR, Giardello, Tiger, Fullmer, Griffith, etc.,...all of whom would have humiliated him. Bobby Cysz...another pompous, arrogant, self important dlck. Billy Joe Saunders, though I like his boxing style, is a miserable prlck in his private life. The less said about Muhammad Ali the racist the better...although he appeared to have improved as an individual by the late 70's. Prince Nasim Hamed was a piece of shlt for disrespecting his opponents the way he did...and Bless MAB for banishing him from the sport. Gerald McClellan was an inhuman ******* for his animal cruelty atrocities,...but he got his comeuppance sure enough...and he ain't gonna be torturing anymore dogs. Oscar de la Hoya....a plastic, shiny phony responsible for his part in contributing to the decline and debasement of boxing....whether it's through his acquisition of Ring Magazine or his "Golden Boy" "Catchweight Canelo"....there's always been an air of phoniness about him that I cannot stand. David Haye...a colossal phony and a pompous ******* to boot. Showed what he was made of vs Wlad.
And he was decent...he was just very, very good and enjoyed his work immensely...as in the same vein as Wilfredo Gomez....and I can't disparage either one of them for that.
Bowe and his little racist pustule of a manager, Rock Newman, degraded boxing "whilst" he was champion.
I admire Mayweather and Ward for their hustle and ruthlessness in getting what they want out of this slimy clown show of a sport but can't stand either man.
Pernell Whitaker - watching one of his fights was tantamount to boxing torture. Can't argue with his record or achievements though. Floyd Mayweather - seems to encapsulate everything that's wrong with modern sports stars.
There are so many direct scum if you look back at what they did in their lives. Monzon, LaMotta, Robinson etc. But I wasn't alive when many of these guys were and and have no relationship to them as such. Robinson is probably the one I admire most for what he did in the ring compared to the absolute piece of **** he seemed to be outside of it. But Tyson I never liked when he was active. Like many others I like him now, though. But that whole thug persona was off-putting to me. Mayweather and Wilder have a bit of that as well and I can't really take to any of them. I certainly admire what Floyd has done in the ring. Hopkins I also have huge respect for what he did in the ring, but don't like what I see of him outside of it. Toney also had a bit of that self aggrendizing thug persona. Broner is another. Can't really say I admire Wilder and Broner as fighters the way I do Floyd, Toney and Hopkins, though. Eubank can be a bit trying to listen to, but a brave man in the ring. I really don't like how Froch is taking every opportunity to put Ward down, just because Ward gave him a lesson in the ring, but I do admire his resilience in the ring as well.
Larry Holmes because of his personal jealousy of George Foreman and other heavyweights. He whines about not getting his 1999 fight with Foreman to this day.
