uh?? i didnt know he was one of the best for a LOOOOOOONG time. tell me any remarkable name in his resume, aside from a washed up barrera.:deal
Wow! Same with me man! What a mistake of mine! I had money on Malignaggi, Quintana and Mosley to win a decision. I never thought he could pull it off vs. Mosley bacause the only style worked well against Shane was the perfect jab-based, defensive, technical boxing. What a performance... Cotto is there now with Hopkins - both can pull it off everytime somehow...
David Haye - Dropped by a SMW, beaten by an old Carl Thompson and looked on his way out against Fragomeni. I can't stand his arrogance and couldn't wait for him to be exposed. But after taking out Mormeck and Maccarinelli I grudgingly accept he is the real deal.
Kelly Pavlik I really thought he was a laboured, stand up boxer. I picked JT for the rematch on the basis that Taylor fought the wrong fight the first time round. Taylor did change his style for the rematch but so did Kelly and dismantled him again. Respect to Pavlik - wont be betting against him anytime soon!
Lennox Lewis. At The Begining I Thought He Was Just A Big Guy That Was Winning Fights Do To His Size Advantage And Not Skills. Never Really Gave Him Props. Sorry Lennox I See It Now.
Liston, even though he always cost me money, I bet Patterson 2x and then Liston 2 x verses Clay/Ali and then against Leotus Martin. For 35 years he was down rated by eveyone...unill late 1990's. I had rated Holms higher than I now rated him...after the Kiddy Parade...I can not rate him that high...never unified .... never tried. a man who could have been some one except for King. IMO
Kelly Pavlik. I thought he would lose to Miranda and Taylor and he stopped both of them. Prior to the Miranda fight I thought he was an overhyped fighter who had a great record due to questionable competition. He's proven to be better than I gave him credit for.
i wasnt in to boxing back then but i always brushed over ricardo lopez, chris eubank and terry norris. i saw ricardo lopez as a lucky fighter to fight at a weak division with a decent amount of skill.....but i can actually agree with some people he prolly is the most textbook fighter of the modern era if not of all time a top 10 in the all round department. terry norris i knew about but i just remember him getting destroyed by jackson. and the first time i saw him was when i was young about 8 seeing him doing alritgh then getting absolutly a bombed by kieth mullings who i also saw get destroyed by steve roberts when i was 11 and just totally bought that he was a guy got beat by a bum... but ive been looking at some tapes and he has defintly become my favourite fighter to watch without a doubt. great handspeed perrrttyful left hook and right cross. went to the body coulde fight in the back foot and on the front. possibly the most versitile fighter i have ever seen. eubank eubank i just didnt like him, even when i was young i can remember my grandad betting every fight against him and was exceptionally angry after what must be the benn II and malinga fight but i remember him getting a whole ton of cash for the collings fight. only after the collins fight did you see what he was capeable of. we saw his career and he did beat the who's who of the division. what he had was an awkward herky jerky style mixed in with elusivness a jba aritgh hand a lefthook and possibly the hardest jaw in the sport. he was dropepd but mostly eot being of balance. against calzaghe he got knocked down got up in think in 3 seconds. his cruserwieght challenge was also a good scrap.
