Name fighters that you think will retire undefeated. btw i dont mean floyd mayweather style retire (temporarily), which is after nearly every fight. i mean retire permanently.

Lets make this more interesting. which fighter will not lose any more fights apart from JC and PBF. i say ricky hatton is 1, and junior welter he aint gonna lose any more

Floyd Mayweather and Joe Calzaghe -- though there's a chance that Mayweather will sell his '0' -- returning after being retired for 3 years to take on a current champion.

I think those two are the ones with the best chance - Floyd to me is almost unbeatable. Joe only has two or three fights left, but Floyd has more 'stellar' names on his list than Joe - but that's another story not for this thread.

Also, the great Sven Ottke will be KO'd in his comeback bout but score a split decision win.

It's more likely that Ottke will do another Mundine and send DM down for the 10 count. The same-day weigh-in will clearly favour Ottke, especially if it's done only 4 hours before the fight...

If a guy retires undefeated, it usually means he's avoided big fights/ has fought in sub-par divisions.

Fighters are too scared of losing their "0"s. There's more credit in most fighters having been in wars and retiring 40-5, than retiring 45-0 with lots of padding. Once a fighter reaches maturity, he should be looking to clear out whatever division he's in. That way, they get big money & big respect.

Joe C & Floyd are the obvious ones with a chance to retire undefeated.

Of today's younger fighters, maybe someone like Juan Diaz could do it, but I'm pretty sure he'll be in big wars as the years go by and I'm pretty sure he'll lose one or two. Any exceptional heavyweight that emerges over the coming year or two would have a great shot too (Povetkin??)

Suppose your correct, Gatti wasn't the greatest fighter in the world, but always gave his all.

Joe C can be beaten by Bhop, unlikely but it can happen. FMJ can be beaten by Williams, the output and physical advantage of Williams would trouble him alot. I think he beats Cotto easily though. Cotto wears his opponents down and he simply wont be able to wear FMJ down who has one of the best stamina's in the game and a great defense to lessen the damage taken from Cotto's blows as much as possible. Meanwhile he will cruise to an easy UD.

Joe Calzague is the top candidate to retire undefeated. Pavlik and Mayweather also have a good chance.

There is not much honor in retiring undefeated if you avoid the top opponents. Joe still has a way to go before he can claim his undefeated record is legit, but he is going in the right direction.

Not necessarily. Marciano fought very solid competition, so have Floyd and Calzaghe (especially as of late).
