5:34 is also telling. Cokes had an excellent counter right hand. Napoles out-counters him with a jab. He did it all night.
Perhaps. I just think Napoles had a more sophisticated brain, especially when I remember Mosley's size advantages over his opponents at 135lbs, and Napoles' lack of size at 147.
Mosley is nothing like Napoles for me. For one Mosley could never really integrate his offensive and defensive output. He was never really a seamless slip and counter fighter.Much more reliant on simply outspeeding an opponent and punching in bunches. Also while he could move when he put his mind to it, he had to plant and come in very straight to let punches go.Never knew how to really control the range and slide in\out at angles.
Sophisticated brain? Shane has adjusted to many styles, especially as an underdog as he climbed weight. the fact that Shane was a big lightweight and had the physical stuff of larger fighters speaks a lot to me on how his natural skill and reflexes could overcome a lot. For instance, seeing Cokes again I think Mosley would handle him all over the ring, H2H
Funny i don't remember Mosley doing too well at 147 against textbook standup counterpunchers that emphasised the 1-2.In fact his whole career was ruined by one.You can count on one hand how many good performances against good fighters Shane had after Forrest was through with him.
Yes :good Lora put it better than me; Mosley was a bit stiff between offence and defence. A top fighter, but not on Napoles' skill level.
You don't remember how the massive hype around Mosley faded away into the night after Forrest turned him overnight from an exciting heavy handed combination puncher, into a one powershot at a time plodder? That was all people could talk about for years after those fights on the forums too, especially after Forrest and Ocar rematch."is Mosley shot" "will we ever see the old Mosley again" etc IT went on until the Wright fights when afterward most posters had realised Mosley was damaged goods.I did dig him briefly turn the clock back against Margarito and he tried his best against Cotto, but really he stunk the place out far more often than not after Forrest took his heart. Mosley on his day was a force, but i don't see a Napoles comparison at all.
Forrest landed a monster headbutt before that then landed the big shots. Mosley has attested a few times this was the case. Mosley outclassed Collazo, Vargas, Margarito, and stuck to Wright and Cotto like glue. You're being foolish if Forrest, Wright, Oscar, Cotto don't give Napoles problems or beat him.
Are you trolling? Do you mean 'modern' as in marginally better training and weight draining, but with many less fights and less experience? By 6ft 1in welterweight, do you mean Vernon Forrest? Who couldn't handle Ricardo Mayorga? Anyway, I don't think what you're saying is relevant to me claiming Napoles was more skilled. It seems clear to me on film that there is a difference in sophistication, regardless of whether Mosley was better physically or not.
You seem like one of those people who are greatly influenced by the improvements in film quality. Napoles would seem more ferocious to you if the microphones were picking up every thudding shot he landed, and you had close-up camera views to share his opponents' pain of the speed and power of his punches.
Is Napoles Mayorga? atsch I see similar styles, you're saying one is clearly above. Put Napoles in with Mosley's competition and he doesn't have the dominance he gets revered for, that's all.
What does this even mean? I can't help but imagine you losing your train of thought after having had a couple to drink. Initially it was: Funny ****.
You agreeing with Lora's blanket statement was funny ****. The man who thinks Watson was more skilled than Ward :rofl
