I don't really know how to analyse fights involving Lopez against top-notch opposition. He'd have an easier night here than he'd have with Chang or Yuh though IMO.

 

from the past, if you want to know how to punch then the answer is Ruben Olivares. From the present (well from the past and the ****in future too it seems) if you want to know anything about boxing then Bernard Hopkins, he is the scientist.

I can see why he would have an easier time. Carbajal had weaknesses, even at his prime that an excellent boxer and a very good puncher like Lopez could exploit, although truthfully im not as familiar with Chang or Yuh as I am with Carbajal. Would love to have seen Lopez against a higher level of competition myself.

 

Yeah, he'd just have to be careful of Michael's power. No Light Flyweight hit like him IMO.

 

Michael Carbajal certainly had weaknesses, but these were more apparent as a result of fighting such a high level of competition. Will Grigsby, future world champion, that was Carbajal's professional debut. Humberto Gonzalez, Kwang Sun Kim, Muangchai Kittikasem, Jorge Arce, Scotty Olson, etc. Very good fighters. Lopez had it a lot easier at 105lbs.

 

Agreed.

Carbajal could bomb him out but I'll give Lopez the benefit of the doubt in a styles Vs styles matchup and say he doesn't.

I haven't seen enough of those two to comment, but Michael was certainly up there. No question.
