fighters vs boxers....

    just a few questions here. 1 which do you prefer and why 2 how many champions were fighters(ie rocky graziano lamotta)vs how many champions were boxers(ie srr, srl, louis)3 whats the upside of and downside of both? 4th and final how many champions had a little bit of both in em please explain why?

    1. It depends on my mood, although I think I appreciate swarmers just a little more. This might be because I am a short heavyweight, and I would be forced to employ that style if I were to box myself.

    2. I have no idea, and it is hard to quantify, because as you allude to later many fighters have a little of both.

    3. The upsides to any style are dependent on your own particular talents. For instance Muhammed Ali would have looked like an absolute fool trying to fight like Joe Frazier. They simply had different talents. A lot of variables go into picking and learning a style, but the most important is what feels right. That is why many unskilled fighters actually become less effective when trainers try to teach them a more refined style.

    4. Boxer punchers happen when one of those rare multi-talented athletes like Sugar Ray Robinson come along. He had the reflexes, speed, and ability to box to go with the power to knock someone cold.

    5. I would say that pure examples of one broad style are somewhat rare, but I don't want to guess how many champions were boxer/punchers, swarmer/punchers, high volume boxers, or whatever.
