    I always bring him up in the "hardest puncher" threads and nobody knows who he is.

    At one point Sean O'Grady was very high on the list of most first round KOs.

    Sincere question: If he’s truly one of the absolute hardest hitting heavyweights of all time, why doesn’t Marciano have more early round kos?

    In terms of first round KOs I think Peter Maher has the most in total, on the percentage, I think Shannon Briggs.

    Because he's greatly overrated as a pure puncher and in fact did most of his damage through attrition & work rate.

    I don't want to derail this thread, but more than half of Rocky's fights were over before the 4th round. He was very dangerous at all portions of a fight.

    Yeah, but that's because he scored early kos in 20 of his first 23 fights (against a roster of earnest ham-and-eggers and no-hopers). He only scored 8 relatively early kos in the remaining 26 fights.

    That will be the case with almost all of the people being mentioned. Almost all of these guys will have most of their early KOs against people who weren't exactly high level.
