Are you kidding me? None of those are ATGs! Sharkey was phenomenal on his day, but so was Buster Douglas. Note: Being a champion doesn't make you an ATG. You probably think Marvin Hart was an ATG too.
well he beat Chavez he just didnt get the decision. And theres some who have Azumah Nelson as an all time great.
Azumah Nelson, and although it wasnt "official" Everyone pretty much knows he beat Chavez (and this coming from a hardcore Chavez fan, who happens to be my all time favorite).
Sharkey and Schmeling were ranked in the Top5/10 for more than 10 years (Schmeling actually was ranked in the Top3 for all but one of those 10 years, if I remember right, show me how many fighters did though and aren´t called atg), fought and beat more ranked contenders than quite a few more popular fighters like Sonny Liston or Joe Frazier. Schmeling also has a win over Joe Louis. They are the number 1 and 2 hws between Tunney and Louis. Both qualify as atgs and Douglas doesn´t compare anywhere with them. Joe Walcott´s resume has numerous good fighters like Murray, Ray, Fox, Bivins, Charles and others. That´s a better resume than for example Tunney, Dempsey, Norton, Bowe, Vitali. Baer has the weakest case but he has still many names on his resume, still better than Vitali´s or Bowe´s who are often ranked in the Top20. Just because you don´t know the era that doesn´t mean they weren´t great.
Carlos Zarate (66-4) Including 20 "boxers" who made their debut against him. 10 "boxers" with 0 wins and multiple losses. 20 "boxers" with **** records (1-2, 2-1, 3-6 etc you get the point) Held the WBC bantamweight title for 3 years. Made 9 successful defenses. Some of them against the likes of John Kaplogo (1-4), Emilio Hernandez (2-4), Juan Rodriguez (8-1) etc. Never rated as the top bantamweight in the world by The Ring. Shouldn't even be in the HOF let alone called an ATG. How strongly do you disagree?
Considered a top 5, top 3 by many, bantamweight of all time, considered by many as the hardest punching bantam ever, only losses came to HOFers, KOed a very devastating undefeated puncher in Alfonso Zamora, was The Ring fighter of the year in '77, was a great combination puncher, with devastating power, and his ability in the ring cant be denied by anyone. So yes, i strongly disagree.
I've seen everything there is to see of Zarate. Not to mention that he was very big for his weight class and his best win is against the tiny Zamora who never amounted to much.
Hamed will make it easily. He dominated featherweight for a long time. Won every belt in the division. Was number 1 there for like 6 years?
