Not the smartest fighter but was a ****ing beast when he wasnt overconfident. Huge puncher at light heavy and super middle, and very sharp puncher. Hard to get past that long jab. Unfortunately couldn't get the right fights for his legacy.

    quite right McVey.

I always was curious about Joe Bowker, he was the epitome of a fighter, a proper Hardman of his time. Both a time and a Manly trait that has died with this softer age - No More HARDMEN, all gone.

it's really too bad we can't see footage of some of these guys, but Bowker and his ilk were made for fighting, fit for ANY fighter in history in their respective weight classes and like you say, there were indeed hundreds of them!

Ernie Roderick - dream match, Roderick vs Zivic world welterweight title!
    JOCK MCAVOY
    Bert Gilroy
    Arthur Danahar
    Jim Brady

some from the UK, and a good few yet!

I dont know about under-rated, but Ezzard Charles in a head to head fight would be hell for anyone under super heavy, watch a Lennox Lewis KO reel, then watch an Ezzard Charles reel, they had the best left right combination punching i have seen at 175+

Tszyu is 1 of the most underated. A ****ing machine, who is technically better than most fighters. He doesn't look as athletic as some guys which is maybe why he is so underated. His opposition also underated massively.

I think he and Billy Conn are the 2 greatest lite heavys who ever lived. Charles gets these props more often than not and Conn doesn't. What Conn did in his first fight with Louis is one of the single greatest performances in ring history even though he lost. Simply ****ing amazing

Right. The guy fought everyone there was to fight and almost always overwhelmed them

The guy was dropped by Hurtado and stopped by Vince Phillips. Judah is his best win. Sharmba Mitchell, shot Chavez, blah blah blah.

Yeah, he was damn good and could really crack with the right when he lined his man up, but his opposition was above average and his reign pretty forgettable IMO.
