What the hell? Did I misread the thread title? I thought it was name a fighter who met 5 other champions and didn’t have any trouble with any of those 5?

Must have misunderstood the title which was:

Fighters who beat 5+ champions or top contenders, and didn't have any hard or close fight.

Now is that "didn't have any hard or close fights ever"? or just against those champions? I'm not the only one in this thread that is a little confused by the ambiguous wording.

If it's just against those champions, Tyson had no trouble against the seven he faced. If it's no trouble ever, well then no Douglas ate his soul and he was never the same.

It means no hard or close fights (which includes any losses) in their career.

Multiple people were criticising Louis for losing to Marciano, so certainly the Buster Douglas fight counts.

No, Bruno was ahead on the scorecards when Lewis caught him with a devastating hook, he went on to struggle v Tucker and then lose to McCall.

As I understand it, the question can't be answered.

It is a defence of Joe Louis who is castigated for having some tricky defences. He beat 5 x HoFers, if I've read it right so, of course, he had a few tough nights. Who else has gone through a career fighting HoF opposition and not having tough fights?

The answer is probably none. The closest I can think of is Floyd Mayweather but that discounts a couple of his less dominant performances. The point being, you go 12 years undefeated and face a lot of good fighters, you have the odd close shave. Whether you're Joe Louis, Ali, Sugar Rays Robinson or Leonard etc. The call to action is to celebrate rather than pick at what Joe Luis achieved. Is that right @BitPlayerVesti ?
