I disagree vehem, hhemv, hmv, vemehen, --- I disagree very much on McLarnin the best men he beat were not true welters, and so he doesn't qualify.:-(

Yeah, on balance I would have to agree with you.

So nobody is able to match Ali here? Is that what we are saying?

Well I'd say that McLarnin beat Canzoneri and Leonard over the lightweight limit, and neither are top ten welters.

    Neither is Ross IMO.

Ray Leonard would be a better shout there with Hearns, Duran and Benitez, none of who make my top ten welters but are consoderably closer than those that McLarnin beat.

Pone Kingpetch 'beat' Harada, Perez and Ebihara. The first two are pretty much locks for top ten at flyweight.

Chiquita Gonzalez beat Chang and Carbajal, both top ten light flyweights.

Harold Johnson beat Charles and Moore. And Bivins. Charles and Bivins were over LHW limit, and you may put Bivins in the pound-for-pound category rather than light heavyweight, but still, a decent enough shout I think.

Packey McFarland beat top ten at lightweight (arguably) Freddie Welsh, top ten at welterweight (no doubt) Jack Britton, arguably top ten at middleweight (not for me, and I don't think he won the fight even) Gibbons.

Mysterious Billy Smith beat Kid Lavigne, Joe Walcott and Tommy Ryan (sure he won one of those) although only Ryan makes my top ten welters (Lavigne could be in my 8-10 at lightweight though)

This is all on memory so if I'm wrong, please tell me.

Please read the opening post before you attempt to contribute again. Apostoli beat one ATG top ten type.

This is interesting, but I think I need to edit the OP: the top three guys should be at one weight.

Charles has an underrated resume off the board I think. Here he gets his due, but in the wider world he does not.

Ricardo Lopez beat Ohashi and Rosendo Alvarez who would break the top 10 at 105.

Greb did it at 2 weights. He beat Walker and Flowers at middleweight and at light heavy he beat Rosenbloom, Tunney, and Tommy Loughran. Tunney is not a consensus top 10 light heavyweight but he has made some lists.

Edit: I was beaten to the punch with Greb. I know you are a big Holman Williams guy McGrain so how about Jake Lamotta; Ray Robinson, Marcel Cerdan, Holman Williams.

I find it hard to rank 130, but Mayweather beat (Genaro) Hernandez and Corrales, who you could possibly argue for a lower spot in the top 10.

Toney beat the ATG at Cruiser (Holyfield), albeit at heavyweight, as well as Jirov who is arguably top 10.

McCallum beat Kalule and Jackson at 154, who you can both make a top 10 shout for.

Calzaghe beat Kessler and Eubank at 168, and Collins beat Eubank and Benn.

Really fishing, as the obvious ones have already been mentioned.
