I can think of several iron chinned fighters who were only stopped with shots to the body. But that's besides the points. What fighters, past or present, couldn't take a shot to the body? A "glass" body if you want to be a giant generic phaggot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Only one that comes immediately comes to mind for me is Brian Magee. Certainly didn't have glaring chin issues, but in his last match-up against Mikel Kessler he seemed bothered by almost every body shot landed. He was knocked down several times, I believe all on body shots. Who else?
Magee was also done in by bodyshots against Bute, but that's not particularly shameful considering Bute's skill at going to the body.
I think Darren Barker might not like it to the body. A bodyshot from light hitting Daniel Gaele had him down... I think the Sturm camp may have been eager to take the match not only because of the title, but because Sturm is still a killer body puncher (when he feels like it)
is a glassbody almost as bad as a glassjaw, a glassbody is inexcusable in a way u should have gut like iron, worked to the max, like a brickwall. ofc a nasty ribshot or one straight to in the solarflexes is unavoidable and will hurt anyone, a glass chin is more genetic.
Yep the body is his weakness, still hasn't been stopped from a body shot but if he ever gets stopped it will come from a body shot you would think. TBH no one likes getting hit to the body, and if someone lands a perfect shot to the ribs/liver you will probabbly go down. for example I wasn't surprised by maidana going down to Khan's double body shots, i was however surprised he got up and lasted the 12 rounds. Pure toughness there.
No arguments there, or from any informed poster here for that matter. Maidana does seem to really huff and puff when people go to his body though. More so than most fighters. :hh
Surprised no one mentioned Mayorga yet. El Matador showed an iron chin up until, and through the Trinidad fight. Tito hit him with EVERYTHING, but it wasn't until he went to the body did he get the stoppage. Of course, Mayroga was later stopped by DLH and Mosley, but it was the body work of Tito that betrayed his 'invincibility'
If it wasn't for his toughness and his will to win he would have suffered a couple of KO's, he is not hard to hit Ha. Always enjoy his fights though. My kind of fighter.
