I am thinking of something like Fury-Wilder 2. Fury decided to push Wilder back and Wilder couldn't fight off the back foot. Since then, a similar blue print has been used by others to beat Wilder.

    Any other examples?

Bonecrusher Smith octopussying Tyson and then Holyfield and Lewis using the clinch in order to neutralize his offense.
Lewis said also that he studied the Douglas fight to defeat him so I could see him using the uppercut more to defeat him.

Renaldo Snipes when he fought Jorge Luis Gonzalez. Although he no longer had the youth to achieve his goal in this bout, he did expose Gonzalez' welcome-mat chin to an overhand right. Something Bowe, Witherspoon and even Ross Purrity used to perfection.

Not a blueprint exatcly, but Tucker showed that Tyson walked towards those uppercuts and was easy to hit by em...

Machen for Liston (forgot he lost to Marty Marshall but was basically viewed as invincible)
    Ali for Foreman
Cooper showed that Ali was vulnerable to left hooks

agreed with everything except for Ali-Foreman. No one else could lean on the ropes to beat Big George.

Taylor showed that Chavez struggled with fighters who had speed & could be physical with him. So when Pernell fought him & was robbed & then Randall managed to beat him (& was almost robbed) they used similar tactics from Taylor, which was to be assertive & stand your ground against Chavez, but they used better defence & timing than Taylor. Plus, Randall hit hard so that helped him more than both Taylor & Pernell. To a lesser extent ODLH, was also able to do this, but Chavez was past his prime, so there's a defence for him there.

That's kinda BS, as Wilder fought on the backfoot against the likes of Stiverne and Duhaupas and beat them. Not to mention the Helenius fight where he sparked Robert out even after the Fury trilogy. It was just levels of opposition. A skilled operator could have beaten Wilder on the backfoot too.

I completely agree, Wilder, who did not have the advantage of reach and could not control the distance, was inferior to physical strength and turned out to be helpless against an opponent applying constant pressure, brutally clenching and inflicting damage.
Another example is the Golota slow starter which was used brilliantly by Lennox Lewis and Lamon Brewster, a similar example is Grant vs. McCline.
Of course, the perfect example is the jab and grab that Holyfield used in the fight against Tyson, but also many other boxers with various important, at the end of their careers, it seemed quite easy.
I liked how Antonio Tarver joined Roy Jones' action, which was later copied by his subsequent rivals. and it happened again when Roy's reflexes began to fail

That’s the plan Lewis would have run on Tyson in a vacuum though anyway. Yeah, clearly worth a study, but like that gameplan isn’t what Steward would have come up with for Lewis?

They said he was the king of the underground boxing circuit.

    That he'd never been beaten.

That he could throw 8 punches harder than Mike Tyson in one second.

But when he stepped into the ring putting his reputation and UBF belt on the line, his opponent Andrew Hartley, had a cunning plan to deal with him. Ultimately Z-Money Zelenoff couldn't deal with Hartley's plan of throwing wild punches into his gob, and folded.

The end of an era ...

I think Freddie Norwood laid out an useful blueprint on how to fight Juan Manuel Marquez. He showed that Marquez had trouble when He had to take a lead and make a fight, so a disciplined counter-puncher could have a lot of success with him.

Though he wasn't undeafeated by the time he faced Ray Leonard.
Bobby "Boogalo Watts, Willie "The Worm" Monroe
and Roberto Duran , all laid they foundation for his victory over Marvin Hagler .
Which was make him lead, counter, don't wait around for a receipt .

It was not just leaning on the ropes, but getting to the late rounds and tiring out George.

A slight twist to the theme: -

Max Schmeling might well have provided what seemed to be the blue print for beating Joe Louis as at the time, taking advantage of a significant flaw.

But then Louis adjusted and corrected himself, coming back big time from a devastating KO defeat to ultimately secure the title and destroy Max in their rematch.

    How great is that?
