Were there ever more aptly named heavyweights than James Broad and Tony Tubbs? :eatingburger

Yeah, Page was hugely disapointing against Witherspoon. Tim was a very good fighter but he didn't have the foot speed to deal with an in-shape Page. If Page was 225 lb or-230 lbs like against Snipes and some other earlier fights, he could have glided around Witherspoon and most likely would have outpointed him as Tim would have had trouble setting up his offense. Instead Page could only move in spurts and spent way too much time laying on the ropes.

I don't know if you guys remember this, but James Broad used to have the nickname 'Broadaxe' until some wiseguy started labeling him 'Broadass'. It was damn funny, but not so much for Broad.

    Really?

LaMotta cut over 2000 pounds in weight over the course of his career.

Rocky Graziano and John Mugabi are a few not mentioned. Incredible how some guys can go so far by doing so little.

Mugabi was a lazy trainer? How did he manage to be in such tremendous physical condition against Hagler and in other bouts?

I dunno if Slapsie Maxie really needed to train, as he fought all the damned time.

Hey RC, you're a big Jimmy Young fan... why didn't our man at heavyweight train like he should have? Did he have food/weight issues, more just a training issue, both...? Did substance abuse come into later in his career as well?
