Fighters who didnt live clean lifestyles and who were not big trainers?

I'm going to hazard a guess and say Galento.

Ive heard that he said this, not sure if this is true though :"Im taking this fight veryseriously, I havent drank for 2 whole days now."

he also trained for one fight with 2 bowls of spaghetti and 2 gallons of beer...then got into a bar fight with his brother who busted his lip open with a beer mug

monzon i've heard didn't train. greb fought so much he rarely need to train ahead of time. lew jenkins was notoriously horrible for training

 

How about Max Baer?

 

Carlos Monzon was a heavy smoker.

Roberto Duran was inconsistent in his training and drank a lot.

Johnny Tapia. Well I don't know about his training habits, but he has well documented drug problems.

Arturo Gatti had his issues with alcohol and drugs.

Wilfred Benitez was known to be real lazy in the gym. Maybe the stories were exaggerated, but he wasn't the most disciplined guy and was said to have been into drugs as well. A lot of real good Puerto Rican fighters have had their issues with drugs and alcohol: Wilfredo Gomez, Carlos Ortiz, Esteban Dejesus, Samuel Serrano, Edwin Rosario, Hector Camacho.

 

Lew Jenkins had booze in his corner in a couple of fights.
Pastrano was a ***** addict
Carlos Ortiz and Bob Satterfield liked to party,ditto Olivares,there have been many , many high livers among fighters Jack Johnson, after he won the title drank like a fish,ditto Fitz.
Gans used up his energy in the bedroom.

 

ESPN Sportscentury had an episode on Graziano.

It said he used to leave training camp. Not because he was in such a rush to drink or get high, but because he was so used to being in New York and always wanted to be in the city.

Graziano's buddy Jake LaMotta said he used to get drunk before his morning roadwork.

Muhammad Ali. He didn't always train too hard and he was known to sleep around with a few ladies during training camp, sometimes even the night before a big fight.

 

Bowe was a notorious eater. Hatton too, for the recent fighters. Of course, technically Bowe is recent, because he's still fighting. I've always heard Pastrano was a slacker, as good as he was. I've heard whiskey in the milk carton, etc, etc about him. I think Galento was pretty obvious! His "Two tons" were on a 5'9 body.

Tony Ayala. Raging alcoholic, drug addict, smoker and womanizer....among other things. Admitted to detoxing from heroin before/during three of his pre-jail fights.

 

Monzon smoked 50 a day allegedly. And whilst doing his roadwork :rofl
