:lol: absolutely off the charts insane comment of the year!! Hehe don't take me the wrong way but I think you need to look into Max Baer a bit more to be honest?? The guy was a beast!!? Immense!? That's what the guy was renowned for? And you say he wasnt like a Foreman?? That's who he was actually VERY like? Curtis Hatchet Man Sheppard said knocking out Baer would be like chopping a tree and said he could kill a man by accident that's how powerful he was - trust me I have a film of a Sonny Liston fight (can't remember which one) where Max Baer is introduced before the fight - trust me Sonny Liston looks big and wide before Maxie gets in the ring - when he goes over to shake his hand in his corner Maxie looks massive compared to Sonny!! The only reason he looked skinny against Carnera was because Primo was the size of a small country

Honestly I've seen larger in that department but maybe I was harsh a bit on that comment. But never did I deny he had any type of strength and yes I've heard the Foreman Comparisons before. I looked at a pic of Liston and Baer and see what you mean by that though.

Baer, "whilst" not bulky and muscle bound, was built just perfectly to be a power hitter. His build, with those wide as hell shoulders, was perfectly functional, and he was indeed big and strong, with a first class chin and excellent stamina. Bulky muscles don't translate into being a power hitter...a clubber maybe, but not for single shot, concussive power. And consider guys like Monzon, who were rangy and lean, but who NEVER was overpowered by an opponent. Yes, as mentioned earlier, Baer only looked small when contrasted with Carnera, and yet again, not really "small", as m uch as "less big", and that was superficial.

exactly was trying to say though big he wasn't the bulky looking superheavyweight(hence the title of my thread people) but he had excellent strength and punching power and stamina that some of the big bulky heavyweights don't have.

    Take my word for it.

Sheer muscle mass is not a reliable indicator of strength.

Quality of muscle trumps mass of muscle every time.

You can get a bean pole who is stronger than a body builder.

    No mention for Ali?

I dont think he is thought of as a particularly strong heavyweight but he seemed to do a fine job of pushing and shoving Foreman around when they were in close.

Herol Graham was very strong and seemed to effortlessly manhandle, spin and throw many of his opponents, but it's other strengths and flaws he's usually talked about for.
