Enzo is trying his luck at 175 Chris Byrd drop from HW to 175, but it did not work out Mundine went from 168 to 154 Bradley Pryce is back at 154 after his visit to 147 did not work Gavin Rees - 140 World title and then British at 135. I think for his hight he could make 130 for a Burns fight I wish Tony Oakey had tried 168 as he appeared always to carry excess baggage throughout hi career John McDermott is always a HW, but imagine him in a proper training camp in the mountains in Tenerife with someone pushing him to the limit
Darren Corbett started as a Heavy, dropped to Cruiser where he picked up Irish, Commonwealth and IBO Intercontinental titles, after a couple of defeats he dropped to Lightheavy where he picked up another (highly sought after) IBO Intercontinental title, last seen as a blubbery Cruiser in Prizefighter I recall Barry Hearn predicting that Corbett would be the first fighter to win three world titles dropping down in weight, Cruiser/Lightheavy/Supermiddle !!
Ricky hatton beat luiz Collazo at 147 then dropped back to 140 and beat Urango and Castillo. Then fought Mayweather at 147 then moved down again and fought Lazcano and malinaggi :good
Miguel Vazquez. Fought at welter and light welter with little success (including a lop-sided points loss to the-then relatively unknown Tim Bradley), but is now a major force at lightweight and the IBF champion.
That would do **** all with his weight bud, John would need 18 months away from boxing having a suitable diet and equally suitable exercise. Boxing is actually not a great sport for losing weight IMO. Too intense means large volume is very difficult.
I agree I don't know if it's poor genetics, a metabolic/glandular issue but I think John will always be 'fleshy' however he trains, he did 2 x 12 with Williams and finished the strongest in both, he did 10 with Krence, Gammer & Fury easily enough so the bloke is clearly fit and puts in the effort in the gym He proved last time out that physique means sod all when he flattened Olubamiwo (who claims his bodyfat is between 10 - 12%)
