Agreed. Benitez was the original fourth member.

Then Top Rank made a video called the Fab Four and included Hagler, because they promoted Hagler and he faced Duran, Hearns and Leonard ... and they also had rights to Hagler's fight footage ... and Don King promoted Benitez. Top Rank didn't have rights to Wilfred's fight footage.

So now people include Hagler, not Benitez.

But when people ask about boxing's fab four, I always think of Benitez and not Hagler.

Perhaps we need to revise further. Anyone up for the Fab Six?

Leonard, Hearns and Hagler clearly wanted no part of Pat The Legend Destroyer Lawlor. :D

When Marvin Hagler learned that Pat Lawlor was in America, he moved to Italy.

Respectively, Lawlor and Camacho, the only two men to go undefeated against multiple members of the Fab Four (or Five), should be held in higher regard than the Fab Four. They should be called the Terrific Tandem. Before the year 2000, I mean.

Good catch. Edited to add Duran and drop Leonard, which I put by mistake.

I argue this point all the time.
Benitez faced Duran ,Hearns , and Leonard.
Hagler faced Duran, Hearns and Leonard.
Benitez wanted a fight with Hagler.
It was Hagler that refused it.

I hate to lose our friendship over this, but somebody gotta lay some facts on ya:

Rolling Stones > Paul McCartney and Wings > Beatles
