Not as crazy as you might think. A lot of these guys started their careers at very young ages, in which case they weren't nearly filled out to what they would become. In the case of a guy like "Fat" Willie Meehan, this eventually boiled over to the other side when he did grow into himself, and then some.

<pedantic hat on> When did the Flyweight division come into existence? Did it exist when Carpentier and Meehan were fighting at a poundage that we recognise as the Flyweight limit today? Looking at his record, Carpentier was fighting for Welterweight titles in 1911. <pedantic hat off> In recent times, the closest I can think of is Dingaan Thobela who fought from Featherweight to Cruiserweight. :bbb
