Fighters who had a great showing in losing efforts

    Fighters who you can say though they weren't the victor they we're impressive in their lost. It could be fighters who showed lots of courage through the end, maybe a past prime fighter still pulling off one more great performance when people expected them to be finished at that point, or maybe they we're victims of close decisions you feel may have been in their favor or could have gone either way. So would anyone like to start this off?

    Tommy Farr was one of the best losing challengers in heavyweight history I think - carrying the fight to prime Louis the whole way - heroic stuff

    Was going to say actually - Joe Louis did have a good deal of very VERY good challengers aswell as the bum of the month club - Buddy Baer and Abe Simon both gave troublesome accounts of themselves in their first times round and Bob Pastor was also tricky and of course Conn and Walcott - even Godoy put up a gutsy showing first time round - and Galento at least managed to embarrass Louis and put him down for his moment in history before getting butchered
