Ted Lowry never actually beat Marciano, but he gave him a hell of an argument twice. Marciano conceded that Lowry would always give him problems. Only the hardcore even know who Lowry is, whilst Marciano is an ATG.

Some might dispute this, but based on career accomplishments you could say that Pac is superior to JMM and yet JMM knocked him out has the only decisive win.

    Taver over Jones.

Jones was top 3 in the sport and not weight drained entering the ring for the rematch but still got clipped. He was mentally beaten bythe time of the third fight.

I'm surprised that choice wasn't mentioned earlier. Good catch.

Harry Wills was on the ascent or in his prime while Sam Langford was past his peak when their long series of bouts took place. In fact, a very good case can be made that Wills was a better fighter than Langford during most of that time. In other words, listing the rivalry of Wills and Langford as an example of a fighter having a superior fighter's number probably isn't valid.

I disagree with your view. In my opinion, Norton is the poster child for an inferior fighter owning a superior one

Sure you can always make a case that the three fights were pretty close bussiness (although in my book Kenny won the whole serie). However, the standing fact is that Ali was always unable to deal in a conclusive way with a contender that was clearly inferior in any sense of the word, but who always managed to frustrate and block a fighter that is considered by many the GOAT.

What other fighter can claim that he went H2H three times with the GOAT and was able to stand his ground and give him a real run for his money?

My boy Kenny had Ali's number, and the best proof is that Ali refused a 4th bout because he knew that Kenny was kryptonite for him :D
