Fighters who had great KO power but never made it to the top

    Um yeah, Cuevas stopped Angel Espada three times, and also Billy Backus once. That's four, and four wins=several wins over champions.

    Cuevas also beat top rated Pete Ranzany, Harold Weston (who'd held Wilfred Benitez to a controversial draw), Clyde Gray (who'd lasted the distance and given a good fight to Jose Napoles), and Harold Volbrecht.

    Am I missing something? Why doesn't the guy qualify as a world class fighter?

    :patsch nice logic.

    B and C level fighters beating one another is Not the "top"- Hearns, Duran, Benitez is the top in that era.

    On this thread, when I said never made it to the top, I meant (maybe I should have been more clear) Fighters who were not able to win world titles or would lose when stepped up to world level, yet still had KO power.

    There has been some good examples given

    Richard Evatt was a good one
    Edison Miranda another


    What did everyone think of Alexanders KO of Takaloo on the first page
