Fighters who have gotten hit too much but ended up retiring in good health

    Inspired by another thread about defensive boxers ending up punch drunk.
    Who are some fighters who have taken too many punishment throughout their career due to terrible/subpar defense but somehow still came out okay with their health intact?

    Micky Ward seems like he's doing alright nowadays.

    I'm pretty sure Micky Ward is in bad health. I mean...he still has double vision last I heard.

    Randall “Tex” Cobb. At least last I heard he was still the same fun-loving, wise-cracking guy he was before. Went back to college after boxing and got a degree from Temple when he was in his late 50s IIRC.

    Carmen Basilio lived to a pretty decent age and, judging by interviews I saw with him not long before his death, remained in good health (and spirits) with all his faculties intact. Plenty of punishment and gruelling fights on his ledger!

    Brian London took some beatings and as far as I know he's still in good shape to this day.

    I've seen some videos of Danny Lopez 3 years ago and he looks to be in good health.

    Earnie Shavers is going to be 75, and he doesn't sound much different than he did 40 years ago, other than the normal change in speech from your 30s to your 70s.

    Considering (with the exception of Holmes) just about everyone he fought in the 1970s is dead - Muhammad Ali, Ken Norton, Jimmy Young, Ron Lyle, Jerry Quarry, Jimmy Ellis, Henry Clark - he's doing great!

    Especially given the fact he wasn't thought to take a great punch.

    Holmes, Shavers and Foreman are good examples.
