I just got Mayweather and De La Hoya's boxing collections. Been watching them start to finish and it got me thinking about the fighters who worked their way up to welterweight from lower divisions. The guys who came to mind include of course Mayweather and De La Hoya as well as Pacquiao, Whittaker, Mosley, Duran and Broner. What I'd like to discuss in this thread is who was the best at welterweight of the bunch? feel free to add on anyone else who accomplished the feet. As well as we're these fighters at their best at welterweight or we're they better suited in the lower divisions?

Henry Armstrong put a whupping on Barney Ross for the title. Jose Napoles climbed from Lightweight/ Jr. Welter initially to beat Curtis Cokes at full WW.
