Please name some fighters who fit this category guys who we're known as great sparring partners who may have even given some all time greats trouble in sparring sessions but just couldn't get it done where it counts in a actual fight

i've heard before that kermit cintron gave bernard hopkins problems in sparring, but unfortunately I have less than zero sources for this, just something i remember reading a while ago

Howard Eastman. Supposedly dropped Eubank and Collins in sparring and was feared in gyms across the land. Even heard a rumbling he caused Collins' injury.

In fights he was unfocused, and just not allthat good. Rarely even the puncher he was billed as.

Lol feels funny since I just used his name in the fighters who can't relax in the ring thread. But I think it's just as good here. Andrew Golota. I've always heard he was a monster in the gym. If you saw him spar and train you would think he was gonna be a top 10 heavyweight ATG. He just couldn't put it together come fight night.

Anyone else heard this? This is all just hearsay of course.

On rereading the thread, I see this isn't exactly what you asked for. I don't think anyone considered Golota a great sparring partner to have, just heard he looked great in sparring for his own fights.

I used to watch Heavyweight Tom Prater spar regularly and he was a monster in the gym. Rough, smart, and fearless. I never saw anyone even come close to keeping up with him.

Golota and Tua supposedly used to go at it in sparring since they were both under Duva. Golota always getting the better of it.

Kirk Johnson used to kick some serious ass in sparring, inlcuding Ike.

Andrew Golota was invincible with headgear and no stakes.

 hehe good one that - could Tommy Harrison fit the bill?? Don't know a great deal about him but think he might have splattered Rocks nose one time - did he first cause the split nose? Plus another spar mate I read about called Toxie Hall I think - pretty tough guy by all accounts think he might've put Rock down in sparring I think? May be wrong?

Harrison fills the bill, RSN. He's the guy that went through life pretending to be Bob Satterfield.

For a long time, Paulie Malignaggi was regarded as a brilliant gym fighter.
