Secundo Mercado against Bernard Hopkins in the first fight.

Segundo Mercado's sister commited suicide 1 week prior to the fight, and he also lost his mentor (a general who trained him in the army) right before the fight. He dedicated this fight to both of them and truly fought an amazing fight. After watching this fight, its kind of dumbfounding that Mercado's record is so bad because he has got some good skills.

alex stewart against george foreman....stewart known more for being in high profile losses to holyfield, moorer, and tyson...comes back from 2 knockdowns in the 2nd round to give george the worst beating of his whole career....for whatever reason the man showed an iron chin against one of the hardest punchers of all time who also has an iron chin and rearranged his face to the point where he looked like an abstract painting or a damn gargoyle....i watched this as a kid in awe...george was beaten up badly....it was a good thing that the fight was only 10 rounds....had it been 12 it would have been a stoppage for stewart no question...george was lucky to get that MD cuz he sure as hell didn't deserve that win

How about Maskaev against Rahman for the title?

    EDIT:

He beat him twice. Forgot about that. Seems like he's lost his major fights though.

Douglas lost his mother right before the Tyson fight. It's really not suprising at all with Mercado, a loss can either break a fighter or push him to things he'll never be able to do again.

on paper in truth it was a scrappy fight where Napoles got cut and badly. Angelo Dundee said his biggest regret is not being in his corner taht night

Greg Page had a near-great fight against contender Marty Monroe, completely dominating him for a stoppage win.

I thought his most mature performance ever was Snipes. He outshone the other 5 top heavies (Snipes, Weaver, Dokes, Holmes, Witherspoon) on that card.

He put it together against Coetzee to win the title so i dont think that Monroe one counts,if you are gonna count one it has to be the Coetzee fight.

Very true.It just the way he handled Monroe that day was purely, awesome. And his weight was somewhat decent.

I understand that, being a world title fight, it count to a certain degree, but the performance he had against Coetzee wasn't as dominant as the Monroe one was.Part of that was being 236 pounds.
