David lopez...he started his career 24-11 being stopped 9 times. He was thrown too early to the wolves and was out of his league. Since his last loss to Flugienco Zuniga in 05 he won 14 straight fights (8 by KO) against average comp and is on the verge of a title shot.
Check out Arguello's first 15 fights. http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=2179&cat=boxer&pageID=2
Arguello turned pro at 16 years of age. He was not a particulalry promising prospect, and was not highly regarded until the first Escalera fight.
JMM: Lost his debut via DQ and couldn't start his professional boxing career for 3 years. You could also argue B-Hop. I think the guy is never given enough credit for the way he turned his lfe around and escaped his previous life through boxing.
Not really. Johnson won his first 30 pro fights. His middle career stunk. Another one I forgot about is Oleg Maskaev, who was just thrown into the deep end way too quickly. Lost to Oliver McCall in his 6th pro fight, lost to David Tua in his 11th.
