I agree with DLH. He lacks a true ring identity which causes him to over think about what he should be doing in any given fight. That's why he switched trainers so often. He never really found "himself" in the ring.

Shane Mosley...it seems as though if someone can get past his speed and power shots...he goes blank. Just bounces on his toes a bit until he comes up with an idea. It seemed evident in the Mayorga and Cotto fight.

Hate to say this, but at times, Marvin Hagler:

    - Too conservative (at times) in Vito Antuofermo I (probably could have overwehlmed him like he did in the rematch)
    - Too much respect for a blown up Duran
    - The non-southpaw 4 rounds against Leonard

And for the record, the ODLH and Jermain Taylor choices are spot on.

I would add Ishe Smith too. Waits for the counter for too long.

Thought it would be a problem for Chad Dawson, but he seems to be growing out of it.

I think you may've misunderstood the question mate, thats not overthinking its running outta ideas, on the contrary Shane has suffered from not thinking at times and just being a fast brawler.

    After consideration...I think you're right.

Besides all the ones mentioned, the first that came to mind was Cintron. **** even Manny Steward made a comment about it during his fight with Angulo...really good choice there.

Not too many fighters with the overthinking issue...or any NOTABLE names.

Junior Witter spends so much time thinking in the ring that I suspect he's a PhD student in his spare time. The man refuses to fight naturally.

Yep. I have said many times Hopkins DID lose to Calzaghe fair and square but he clearly didn't have to. Bad game plan considering he proved afterward that he has the stamina to let 'em go all night long.

Jermaine Taylor comes to mind, and actually Zab Judah at times.

Jermain Taylor definitely. That tick where he taps his forehead only comes about when he starts thinking too hard or gets frustrated.

Kermit Cintron tends to get a little flustered once in a while too.
