Fighters who proved their critics dead wrong.

    Was just thinking about the Pac/Floyd debate that continues to go on, and on, and on, and, well, we all know...

    Anyway, I thought I hope that fight shows a clear winner. There'll always be excuses from fans of either fighter and the fighters themselves, but I hope it's a decisive victory in a good fight if it happens.

    Floyd wins, I hope it's through sheer skill and defensive boxing, negating Pac's offence and doing what he's always done best..

    If Pac wins, I hope it's his relentless onslaught, speed and multi-dimensionality that wins it, forcing critics to ea their words.

    Either way, it's clear cut and the fans of either fighter owe the winner due credit.

    What examples are there of this in boxing that you can think of, where the critics just have to own up and give credit? Where the fighter goes out and proves his harshest critics dead wrong?

    2 immediately spring to mind for me (call me biased being an Aussie) but:

    Tszyu KO Judah - Nobody gave Tszyu a chance against the speedy and slick Judah. Yet Tszyu's timing and power shut it right out.

    Darchinyan KO Mijares - Sure Vic got the KO, but nobody who was anybody thought Vic would out box Mijares (rated P4P top 5 at the time) the way that he did. So long as Mijares could avoid the bombs, this was in the bag for him and Vic showed us all otherwise.

    Anyway, it's an interesting conversation, so what are your thoughts?

    More recently and though I know he didn't win, but he still silenced a lot of people was Morales in with Maidana.

    How? The critics were saying Oscar was going to get mauled, yet he was able to win a notable number of rounds before succumbing to the much bigger Hopkins? The critics didn't give Oscar a chance and ended up on the end of a KO loss, the critics were right.

    When Pacman was on the rise after destroying Barrera and drawing with Marquez who had a superhuman effort in one of boxings biggest comebacks not many gave El Terrible a chance as he was on the downslide and Mexico's last hope. He went soul searching with Pacman beat him and amazingly did it again with Maidana.

    Arce beating a bigger, younger, faster albeit greener but formidable champ in Vasquez. Took my breath away as I saw glimpses of Gatti. Travieso is pure heart man. Alot of heart for a little guy.

    Many Critics called Pac vs DLH a farce and complete mismatch .... they were right about the mismatch, just wrong about the fighter.

    BHOP was written off against Kelly Pavlik, schooled Pavlik and proved many people wrong. (made me some good money too, He was like a 3-1 Underdog).

    Not many gave Andre Ward a shot vs Kessler
