Interesting question, but I honestly don't know. I do remember reading that the Spinks brothers would spar for long periods of time leading up to their fights (early in their careers). In fact, I recall reading that sometimes the Spinks brothers would spar up to 40 rounds at a time together, and that accounted for their amazing stamina i guess.
only takes 70 mins. and yep; I think considering how great they looked late in fights it's pretty believable, don't know how light the contact was though
It was most likely light sparring, if you do hard sparring for 40 rounds you’d definitely need to be carried out the gym by the end of the day
Ya, you're probably right, but it might be that they fought varying levels of contact, like 15 rounds of light, 15 of medium, and 10 of full, or something like that, idk. They were just very devoted and determined brothers. I believe Spinks sparred 1,000 rounds in preparation for the 1st Ali fight. Who wouldn't? Your chance to fight the hw champ of the world Ali w/ only 7 pro fights? I'd spar 1,000 rounds for a chance like that.
As far as I know, the man who inspired your username didn't like weightl ifting or rope skipping or even road work, he just sparred throughout his training camp.
On a side note Archie Moore has so many fights because he didn’t like paying sparring partners. In between big fights he would take a guy he normally sparred with and get paid to fight him. Make a little side change while training for the big one
