Fighters who successfully carried their power as they moved up?

Does that mean Arguello couldn`t stop a fighter at 140 who had a good chin then?

 

He still carried it well from 130lbs & stopped or badly hurt a lot of top notch quality fighters (Mayweather, Taylor, Camacho, Haughen..).

 

The Taylor stoppage was a bad call, Camacho was never an elite light welter and took tons of shots from Chavez, Haugen was not a world class fighter at all and Chavez stopped Roger for quicker at 135.

 

Never said Camacho or Haughen were elite or world class, I said they were quality fighters - which they were (they certainly weren't bums). Taylor's face said otherwise (as did Camacho's) & while Mayweather seemed to have grown a chin for their rematch at 140 - he still quit on his stool - clearly not wanting to take anymore punishment.

 

Roy Jones Jr from 160 to 175 for sure. That body shot he KOed Virgil Hill with was undeniable not to mention the KO of Montell Griffin in the 2nd fight. His speed and power was crazy. Honestly, he hurt Ruiz at heavyweight a few times as well. Definitely hit hard enough to get his respect .

 

No. It means he couldn’t stop a better 140 pounder.

 

Pac-Man. Considering where he started, he’s carried his power pretty well to 135 and 140. 147 not so much.

 

Taylor suffered a broken eye socket, broken ribs, badly busted up face, had a lot of blood pumped from his stomach, was ****ing blood for weeks and was in hospital for almost 2 weeks following the fight.

 

Most consider Pryor an ATG at that weight. He's also extremely durable despite the odd balance KD. I'm sure if Arguello spent more time at 140 and going even further if he matured into the division as a younger man he would have had plenty of punching exploits there.

 

My opinion is Arguello hit plenty hard enough, (See the B.Costello fight) Costello
was winning the fight impressively against a past prime Arguello, clearly
diminished by his wars with Pryor, but one clean right hand, fight practically
over , a ko win by Arguello.
Sometimes credit has to be given to the opponent, Pryor was the better
jr.welterwieight, possibly the best ever at that weight.

 

Yes he was way past it but stopped Billy in his tracks to say the least. Pryor showed some serious durability that night. I'm not a huge fan but he was pretty hard to stop obviously.

 

Camacho had a swollen eye and Taylor had cheekbone damage happens ofteen in boxing, fighters get marked up after being hit a lot for 12 rounds.

 

I feel Manny hit harder than Chavez Sr at 140.

 

But he caught Pryor flush time and again.
