Lou Duva tried to make Tyrell Biggs into a fighter rather than hone his boxing skills.

He did beat some of them. He was never going to beat Holmes and Tyson.

The Way he lost though to Holmes in 1 round hurt him. He wasn't even competitive. Holmes wasnt a destroyer. Marvis wasn't ready for that big a fight after only 10 pro fights. I think he could have given a much better account of himself had he fought his natural style and had some experience.

Maybe it's because he was already starting to slip, but I don't think Cotto looked all that great under Steward.

I honestly think GGG fits this list, though it's age as well.

Abel Sanchez ruined Ruiz in his prep to fight Parker, he went off train other fighters and was never in camp at all, Ruiz had to train himself.

Michael Nunn made the mistake of departing from Joe Goossen and switching over to Angelo Dundee instead.

Tyson and Kevin Rooney were very well suited for one another. Tyson made Rooney look like a boxing genius and Rooney never had the same success with other fighters. Rooney knew the D'amato style well and knew how to push Mike's buttons and keep him motivated. Tyson was never really the same fighter post-Spinks despite a succession of well known fighters (Rich Giachetti, Tommy Brooks, Freddy Roach...). They were ideally suited for one another. Tyson doesn't seem to praise Rooney too much in interviews but the results speak for themselves.
