Make a list of fighters who went the distance against all the odds and explain why they could do it.

    Examples:

Fury went the distance with Wallin because badly cut.

    Wepner vs Ali

    Usyk vs Bodybuilder

    Briggs vs Vitali

    Holmes vs Shavers

    Others?

Yep, the referee stopped him in the 15th but he could have continued to fight till the end imo.

    Prime example.
Look no farther than Holmes vs Cobb.
The fight so one-sided Howard Cosell
    quit announcing boxing matches.
A testimony to Cobbs toughness and chin
and Holmes lack of serious fire power.

Victor Galindez against Richie Kates in their first fight. Galindez was cut really badly in the third and the fight was going to be called off but was allowed to continue, with Galindez periodically wiping the blood from the streaming cut onto the ref’s shirt when he broke the clinches.

Not only did Galindez last till the final round, he knocked Kates out.

    Heroic performance.

James Bonecrusher Smith vs Mike Tyson 1987 WBC/WBA title unification fight.

After Tyson’s demolition of Trevor Berbick was followed a few weeks later by Smith’s shock one round upset stoppage of Tim Witherspoon, everyone expected a short but explosive unification war between the two. Someone would definitely be put to sleep and most if not all thought it would be the slower, more cumbersome Smith. Unfortunately it turned out to be the crowd and everyone who watched on TV that was put to sleep as the fearsome Bonecrusher became the timed Bonehugger for 12 tedious rounds.

    Mohawk against Lennox Lewis

He got hit with some monster shots. Huge right crosses and uppercuts from Lennox and somehow didn’t get dropped.

Antonio Margarito suffered a fractured orbital bone against Manny Pacquiao. It should have been stopped in the last couple rounds. Manny let up a bit and looked at the ref to stop it. Margarito took a frightening beating that night and went the distance.

Dewitt vs hearns. Needles to say there was a giant class difference and hearns had Doug in trouble at times, but dewitt put in a great shift In what should have been nothing more then another hearns highlight reel knockout.

I don’t think too many though Big George was going to last the distance against a young peak Evander Holyfield. George was seen as a novelty act coming in as a fat,old preacher who’d faced no one of note except an overweight Qawi and a rusty Cooney. The fact George could absorb so much and return with some bombs of his own to last the distance in a good fight earned him a lot of legitimacy.

Billy Collins Jr vs Luis Resto

poor Collins basically got assaulted in the ring for 30 minutes. By a cheating scumbag "Resto" with no padding in his gloves, and somehow lasted the distance.

If you ever watch that fight, and listen to the sound of the punches. It actually makes my stomach churn.

Even Jake Lamotta who was commenting on the fight, with his ex wife Vicky. Made comments about the sound of the punches.
