Fighters who were considered past their prime before the age of 30

The answer to this is that the great majority of boxers (and professional athletes) are past their athletic prime by 30. Some have the skill or style to last longer. But, few are physically at their best much past 30.

 

Yeah right an I guess that gotta mean Ali was also far better or just as good after his 3 years out cos in his comeback fights he dropped Bonavena 3 times an stopped him even though Bonavena twice went the distance with prime Frazier an even dropped Frazier a couple of times? Tyson when he got out of prison in 95 was a lot more muscular and maybe even a little stronger because of all the years of weight lifting he done in prison but there no way he was as good as the fighter he was in his prime during late 86-88 or even the post tokyo Douglas version up to when he was sent to prison in 92

Yet, Tyson was already noticeably in decline by 1989, a fact many observers noted during his fights against Bruno, Douglas, and Ruddock.

 

Maybe Chris Byrd? Roy if he used his legs a lot but I do also think he's too fragile to stand up to a decent shot from Tyson.

Ali, on the other hand, was viewed as having regressed because of how he looked against Bonavena. That was the view, whether you agree or not.
