I can think of 3. One if Tyson vs Spinks. I think that Tyson was the destined conqueror of Spinks. Nothing Spinks could do would have gotten him a victory over prime Mike Tyson. Another was Hearns vs Duran. Prime Hearns would always be the eventual conqueror of Duran. The boxing gods destined Hearns to beat Duran. The third is Archie Moore vs Ezzard Charles. Charles was the kryptonite to Moore's Superman. 3 times and Moore could never beat Charles. The universe designated that Charles would always beat Moore. Also Foreman vs Roman. There's no scenario where Roman ever beats Foreman.
Henry Cooper-Brian London 3 fights and even though London had a decent punch (knocked out Joe Erkskine who had beaten Cooper twice) and Henry´s pronpensity to cuts could not get a win or even come close.
Good picks. People say Liston was a little past it by 1964, but he was fresh off his 1 round KO of Floyd Patterson and he was a huge favorite going into the fight. I don't know if even 1960 Liston beats any version of 64-75 Ali.
What was it the Charles had that meant Moore just couldn't beat him... You'd have thought in three fights he'd have found a way.
Joe Walcott (the Jersey one) vs. Marciano — he fought the perfect fight the first time and the Rock still caught up with him; second time he got a little taste early and noped out. Likewise both Yaqui Lopez and Marvin Johnson vs. Matthew Saad Muhammad. Herculean, courageous and even brilliant efforts not once but twice for Yaqui and Marvin but in the end Saad was supreme. Close enough to taste it but oh so far away from beating Matthew. Guess I have to throw Thomas Hearns vs. Iran Barkley into the mix. The first time Tommy beat him like a rented mule, landed body shots that would cave most people and have them begging for mercy and Iran was able to hang in there and find the right counter at the right time. Next time around Hearns adjusted his game plan and still came up short in a close effort with his face smashed in by the ferocious Barkley.
Ali to Frazier, there's nothing Ali could have done after getting floored by that left hook, I mean he could have knocked out Frazier but that was never going to happen
Despite being a good fight (Mundine-Green) I thought watching that match up Anthony Mundine always would have “something” to fall back on against Danny Green in there primes. I I think the rematch was what it was but not representative of there very best capability. Danny Green was a very good fighter and I respect him a lot but I don’t think he could’ve ever beat Choc.
Marco Antonio Barrera looked special from the earliest days in his career and was such a fantastic boxer.
You could say JMM vs Pac-Man but the score line doesn’t read that way. Manny could still never really ever shine against Marquez.
Holyfield - Bowe. Holyfield may have pipped one with quite a few things going on but Bowe was a bad bad man for Evander.
