I agree it seems like Patterson's chin got better later in his career being able to beat punchers Like Bonavena,Chuvalo and going 24 rounds with Quarry,

I dont think Kelley had such a bad chin, he ate a lot of Bombs from a good puncher Cobrita Gonzalez before being stopped. Getting Kod by Naz didnt mean he had a bad chin.

Damien Fuller came to mind...but his own lack of power had something to do with this aswell.

Perhaps Golden Johnson is an alright pick.

Johnson went down easily vs Margarito but before that his chin has been ok. Hes gone the distance with punchers like Cardona(who knocked out tough Ivan RObinson) Tackie and also has wins over Lascanzo and Teddy Reid both good punchers. Also took Mosleys shots for 7 rounds he was stopped because of accumalation.

Can't disagree but I think it was more apparent in the second part of his career. The Olivares fight and after, when he was on the slide.
He was however decked a couple of times before that, Castillo, Sakauri and DeLa Cruz, but never really looked in trouble.

Carl Williams was very good.If he had a chin he might have been great. His fight with Holmes could have gone either way(Inmy opinion) but was dropped by Ferguson a few times and Weaver kod him after. Then Tyson kod him in 1. Williams didnt seem to be the same after. Even a faded Williams gave Morrison all he could handle before getting kod.

I was just beginning to wonder why no one had mentioned Carl. IMO Carl Williams epitomises the type of fighter that this thread is looking for.

I can't think of a better example of this than ken Norton,if you were a boxer with average power then you were in for a tough fight, but a big puncher was another story.
