I should imagine being ringside for a Johnson fight was a singularly unrewarding experience.Young did nothing for me either, nor B Hop.Monzon was never fan friendly but he was incredibly effective.
Monzon is one of my favourite fighters but I found him too boring to watch initially...I can admit he is so boring, I just like watching his fights
I can't believe some of the fighters mentioned as 'boring'?? Hearns? Smokin' Joe? I'm going to forget a lot but Jimmy Young (I love him) might rub people the wrong way. Pierre Fourie? The South African LHW contender that NO ONE KO'd; he was slick and could pile up some points but not too exciting. Fought a lot of the 'big boys'. Joey Maxim? See: Pierre Fourie. Although I've only seen snippets of Tommy Farr he seems to be in the same category as the above. Joe Louis said: "the man fought me sideways ALL night" May have some more later.
I didn' t say that. The fighters I mentioned didn't have a style that appeals to most of the pulbic, as for example, Mike Tyson, Jack Dempsey, Joe Frazier and others. The thread is about fighters who have a monotonous but efficient style.
...Matthew Saad Muhammad, Cornelius Boza-Edwards, Evander Holyfield, Bobby Chacon, Bazooka Limon, etc, etc. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
